Courier SMS Scam Checker — Is This Parcel Message Fake?

Paste a courier or India Post SMS to check for scam signs: lookalike links, address-update tricks, small fees, OTP requests. Runs in your browser, free.

The check runs in your browser. The message is not sent to our server and the link is never opened.

What the checker looks for

  • Lookalike links that copy a courier name (indiapost, dtdc, delhivery) on a domain the courier does not own.
  • Address-update tricks that say delivery failed because your address is incomplete.
  • Small fees for redelivery, storage, or customs that you are asked to pay through the link.
  • Deadlines like “within 12 hours” or “will be returned”, meant to rush you.
  • Requests for secrets such as a card number, UPI PIN, an app to install, or an OTP next to a link that is not an official site.

The safe habit: track it yourself

You never need a link from a message to see where a parcel is. Copy the tracking number from your order page and paste it on the WhereIsMyOrder tracker or the courier’s own site. Not sure which courier the number belongs to? The tracking number format database shows what each courier’s numbers look like.

Courier SMS scam FAQs

Does India Post send SMS asking me to update my address?
Messages that say an India Post parcel is stuck because of an incomplete address and ask you to update it through a link are a known scam that PIB Fact Check has flagged. Check the article number yourself on the official India Post site instead of tapping the link.
How do I know if a courier tracking link is genuine?
Look at the domain, not the words in it. A genuine link ends with the courier's own domain, such as indiapost.gov.in or delhivery.com. Domains like indiapost-gov-in.one or dtdc-redelivery.com only copy the name. Shortened links such as bit.ly hide the real address.
Can this tool prove a message is safe?
No. It only looks for common warning signs. A message with no warning signs can still be fake, so the safest habit is to track the number yourself on the courier site or on WhereIsMyOrder instead of using links in messages.
I already clicked the link or paid. What should I do?
If you lost money or shared card, UPI, or OTP details, call the national cyber crime helpline 1930 right away and file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in, then call your bank to block the card or UPI. Speed matters because banks can sometimes hold the money.
Where do I report a fake courier SMS if I did not lose money?
Report it on the Sanchar Saathi portal (sancharsaathi.gov.in) using Chakshu, the option to report suspected fraud communication.
Is the message I paste stored anywhere?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser. The text is not sent to our server, and the link inside it is never opened.
