COD Charges Explained — Cash on Delivery Fees for Couriers
How COD (cash on delivery) fees work on Indian courier invoices, typical percentage + minimum patterns, and when prepaid is cheaper.
What COD fees pay for
Cash on delivery means the courier collects money from the buyer. That creates cash-handling cost and non-delivery risk, so couriers add a COD fee on top of freight.
How fees are usually structured
Expect a percentage of the COD amount and/or a minimum rupee fee, sometimes with a cap. Exact slabs are contract-specific. Prepaid shipments skip this line item.
When prepaid is cheaper
High-ticket COD carts can make the fee larger than the conversion benefit. Compare COD vs prepaid in the shipping rate calculator before you promise free COD shipping.
